Four Cousins

We get asked a lot: ‘Are they real?’, ‘Are they really cousins?’ The answer is YES!

The now well-known four Retief cousins joined forces in the mid 90’s. One after the other, after completing their studies, they joined the family farm, Van Loveren, and today they’re the driving force behind the company.

Hennie and Neil are the viticulturists, in charge of the farming units and managing the vines. Bussell is the winemaker and Phillip looks after the business side of things.

Their first big endeavour was introducing the much loved Four Cousins range of wines in 2000. Released in a rather impressive 1,5 litre bottle, it made a lot of noise and today it’s South Africa’s biggest selling bottled brand.

In fact, Four Cousins is also affectionately known as the country’s favourite vino in a bottle.

FOUR COUSINS NATURAL SWEET WHITE

A wine for everyday enjoyment..The perfect sundowner in summer. Enjoy as an aperitif, spicy oriental food, fruit and desserts

A fragrant, sunshine coloured wine with gentle honeysuckle perfume. Flavours of luscious apricots, nougat and rich tropical fruit salad is followed by a soft, lingering finish.

STYLE: A sweet white wine, blended from white cultivars andgrape juice

CULTIVAR: 60% White Muscadel / 40% Grape Juice

VINIFICATION: Blended. Cold fermentation. Unwooded

ANALYSIS: Alc: 8.5% R/S: 60.0g/l T/A: 6.2g/l pH: 3.4

Tasting notes:

A fragrant, ruby-red wine with soft rose petal perfume.

Flavours of ripe plums, strawberries, and exotic spices are followed by a soft, lingering finish.

60% River Red, 24% Grape Juice.
