Greek speakers will know that Aphelion means from the sun and this concept is
central to the winemaking philosophy. Their intentions are clear - to bottle sunshine.
It takes a village to make a fine wine.
Well, just about. Hand-crafted, small batch winemaking involves lots of characters as the grape is transformed from the sun and the sky, the vineyard to your glass.
Rob Mack uses minimal intervention winemaking techniques, allowing the sun's life sustaining force to shine out of the wines. Wines that are bright and fresh.
From their perspective, the ascendancy of their McLaren Vale wine brand Aphelion has been relatively meteoric. In the space of six short spins around the sun, they have turned their tiny, one-tonne project into a full time pursuit and one of the hottest brands on the market.
