Kanonkop Paul Sauer 2018: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot.
Tasting Notes: The saturated ruby colour is complimented by an array of scents typically associated with Paul Sauer – fresh herbs, tilled earth, pencil shavings, spice, red- and black fruits. While being heady and perfumed, the wine remains classic and refined, with an utterly elegant structure. The tannins are precise, and together with the clever use of new oak, creates the perfect backdrop to host the complex fruit spectrum. The finish is sappy and spicy, with layered notes of red fruits and cured meats on the long, youthful finish.
Cederberg Five Generation Cabernet Sauvignon 2018: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting notes: A wine of stature, the Cabernet Sauvignon shows a beautiful combination of blackcurrant and plums with subtle hints of cedar wood and clove spice. A wine rich in flavour with a ripe tannin structure that has velvet finish on palate. Optimum Drinking Time: 5 -9 years.
Boekenhoutskloof Chocolate Block 2020: 73% Syrah, 11% Grenache, 8% Cinsault, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 % Viognier
Tasting note: The nose is dark and brooding and entices with its black fruit aromas and hints of pepper and spice. The blueberry and blackberry of the nose follow through onto a layered, full palate with flavours of dark plums and notes of dust, graphite and cocoa nib. The wine is focused and elegant, with fresh yet integrated acidity and fine-grained tannins, adding to exceptional structure. Black currant and milk chocolate linger on a silky finish.
Boekenhoutskloof Stellenbosch Cabernet 2014: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting notes: Claret like in its profile, the wine exhibits richness, texture and a youthful elegance. Wild berry, cassis with spicy notes abound. The tannins are refined, well integrated and suggest the wine has significant ageing potential.
Meerlust Cabernet Sauvignon 2016: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting notes: The Meerlust Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 has an intense, vivid purple colour with slight gradation at the rim. On the nose the wine shows pronounced plum and classic cedar wood-cigar box notes with lifted dark fruit aromas. There is the characteristic hallmark aromas of fennel and liquorice associated with Meerlust Cabernet. On the palate the wine is full bodied but with richness of fruit and supple tannic structure typical of 2016
